AN IMPERIAL GERMAN NAVAL OFFICER'S SWORD,
circa World War One, with pipe-backed 30 1/2in. slightly curved plated blade etched with martial and academic trophies and fouled anchors (some corrosion), solid brass half-basket hilt with folding inner guard engraved with an illegible name on the inner face, the external face of basket carved with floral vines and a crowned fouled anchor, lionshead pommel with green and red glass eyes and ivorine wire-bound grip, complete with its leather and brass scabbard (distressed)
